The GRIT NCD Consortium
From evidence to action in the global fight against noncommunicable diseases
The GRIT NCD Collaborative introduces a different model that addresses the shared drivers of NCD risk across the life course through linking collaborative research, training, and implementation activities.

Our Objectives

Why NCDs?
NCDs are one of the most pressing global health challenges of the 21st century, responsible for nearly three out of four preventable premature deaths worldwide. While approximately 80% of NCD deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), high income countries also face significant challenges managing their NCD burden.

Premature deaths (ages 30-69)
Although NCDs encompass many conditions, most deaths are driven by four diseases (cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic respiratory disease, and diabetes) and five modifiable risk factors including tobacco use, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, harmful alcohol use, and air pollution. These conditions, along with mental health disorders, impose profound social and economic costs, reducing productivity, widening health inequities, and slowing progress toward sustainable development around the world. Importantly, a strong evidence base demonstrates that many of these risks can be reduced through proven, cost-effective interventions such as tobacco control policies, cleaner air standards, improved access to healthy food, and expanded screening and prevention programs.

Our Logic Model
The GRIT NCD Collaborative's model addresses the shared drivers of NCD risk across the life course by linking collaborative research, training, and implementation activities. Our detailed Logic Model outlines the program components and provides the indicators for monitoring and evaluation to ensure that we stay on track with these milestones and deliver on our commitments.
